Limassol (also called Lemesos) is the second largest city of Cyprus with a population of approximately 250,000. Limassol is the Cyprus tourist metropolis and has become one of the most important trade, and service-providing centers in the area. The Port of Limassol is one of the busiest ports in the Mediterranean transit trade and the largest port on the island. Limassol is renowned for its extensive cultural traditions and a number of museums and archaeological sites are available to the interested visitor. The large marina near the old town has opened its doors in 2014 extending into the sea as an artificial peninsula.
